# 421 Studio Portraiture and Business Practices
Instructor(s): Bryce Denison
Tuition: $100.00
This six-hour workshop starts with classroom instruction on the running of a business photographing a graduating high school senior, professional corporate head shots or even wedding engagement announcement photos. Remember that graduates frequently use their senior portraits as a personal statement of who they are as a rite of passage. Most graduating seniors desire a photo that shows people active in their interests in life; like music or a pet or sports. You need to be able to extract that information from the client and deliver it back to the client in the form of your photographs.
After the classroom business portion we will go into the studio where students will photograph a model and learn how to quantify beauty by using lighting, backgrounds, poses and props to maximize the model’s best features or to minimize those that are less desirable. Lighting ratios and metering will also be discussed and demonstrated. Students will use state-of-the-art studio electronic flashes housed inside really large soft boxes for great soft lighting.
This workshop can include the #999 Post Workshop Private shoot immediately following the conclusion of this workshop. You can get a one-hour private shoot with the model for $100.00 which may include a model release. Advanced registration is strongly encouraged and only two private shoots will be offered per workshop. Enrollment is first-come-first served.
Students are expected to bring: camera with ample media cards, wide angle and telephoto lenses, tripod and a lens hood for each lens. Just like you go to a restaurant, it is common and appropriate to give your waitress/waiter a tip or gratuity, such is the case here. You are encouraged to provide a gratuity to your model at the end of a successful shoot.
