DESCRIPTION:Photographers frequently make images under less than ideal conditions. Film and digital sensors have limitations in capturing detail in bright sunlight compared to dark shadows. Commonly\, if the photographer places exposure emphasis on light areas\, the dark areas become too dark and vice-verse. Stacking is more than bracketing your exposure. You may use Photoshop CC (Cloud)\, Lightroom\, NIK – HDR and PhotoMatix Pro 4.2 in this two-hour workshop.  Learn about tone mapping and how to create a composite from a three-shot bracket (or a 5\, 7\, 9 shot bracket) into a photograph that could not be captured by conventional means. We will also demonstrate how to create multiple files from a film scanner. Bring your camera and tripod as you will be shooting photos to work on in class.

SUMMARY:#205 Portfolio Review and Tech Time  Friday November 7\, 2025  6:30-9:30PM
DESCRIPTION:This three-hour program is intended for photographers to bring in up to 10 of their images for Bryce to review and critique; saved on a USB flash drive. The students’ 10 images may be their best ever images for validation that these images are as good as the photographer hopes they are. Most students however; bring in their problem images in hopes that they can gain an insight of how the image can be re-edited or perhaps re-photographed even better. Bryce will display the images on a big screen and tell you the truth about each image and hopefully; how to make it better if it can be made better. We start at 6:30PM and we continue until we are done. This program is held at our Farmington Hills campus. The image resolution should be 6″x9″ @ 240 DPI or 2160 Pixels at the longest dimension.  Students will also want to bring in both the RAW image (unprocessed) and their edited .jpg image if possible\, in case Bryce needs to demonstrate a processing technique from scratch.  Images with smaller resolution can still work\, but may provide a limited opportunity as compared to the larger RAW image to take full advantage of the data available from the larger file size of a RAW file.

GoDox manufactures an entire lighting system; easily to transport and setup anywhere. Students will learn how to sync multiple GoDox AD200 flashes and/or to the GoDox V1 shoe mount flash. Learn about the difference of bare bulb lighting\, globes\, umbrellas and soft-boxes and how they illuminate your subjects differently. Learn how to use a flash meter to achieve “PERFECT EXPOSURE and LIGHTING RATIOS” to within 1/10 of an f/stop. Learn to set up additional lights as background lights\, hair lights to complement the basic main and fill light. SUMMARY:#304 Birds\, Alligators and other Wildlife in Florida Photo Safari  February 16-21\, 2026
DESCRIPTION:This six-day workshop will put you in close proximity to wild alligators and wading birds that you can photograph with a 200-300mm lens – but don’t worry; you will be shooting safely from a boardwalk. On Sunday evening after photographing all-day\, a slide lecture/program will be presented on photo technique. For the balance of the week\, we will be in the field photographing wildlife! The first day is Venice Rookery\, then an evening shoot in Cape Coral shooting Burrowing Owls. Just after sunrise at Estero Beach then on to Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island. The next day is Corkscrew Swamp and 12 Mile Slough. Then we drive south down the Gulf Coast with an all day stop at the Naples Botanical Garden. From there\, we travel west to visit Shark Valley and the Great or Big Cypress swamp finally on to Everglades National Park at the Royal Palms station at the Anhinga Trail. Then we head up the East Coast to Wakodahatchee Settling ponds (Delray Beach)\, Green Cay Wetlands (Boyneton Beach) and finally up to Merritt Island just outside of Cape Canaveral. Our last stop is The Orlando Wetlands (Christmas) before returning to Orlando to fly home. You will learn about Fresnel lenses to create a telephoto fill flash and about the natural behavior of wildlife. If you have powerful telephoto lenses or 2X converters\, bring them. 35mm\, digital and medium format cameras are welcome. This is tripod shooting! This workshop is appropriate for photographers or painters who will print or paint from their photos once back home. Airfare\, lodging\, and ground transportation is not included.
