#501 Fashion and Portraiture in Ypsilanti’s Depot Town Saturday September 14, 2024 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

February 14 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

This all-day workshop involves photographing a fashion/portrait model outdoors at the Ypsilanti neighborhood known a Depot Town because it was once the site of a railroad stop now converted to a park and a series of shops and restaurants. We will begin with instruction on exposure and lens selection; to create or minimize the distortion that plague photographers. There is a difference between getting up close and using a wide angle lens or standing farther away and using a telephoto lens as it relates to distortion.  Learn about supplemental lighting from reflectors, diffusors and fill flash. There is a plethora of backgrounds and environments there from which to include in the design your photograph.  Bring your camera, plenty of media cards and both wide angle and telephoto lenses, your tripod, flash and lens hoods and polarizing filters for each lens. Students will meet in the parking lot behind Aubree's Pizzeria on Cross St, Ypsilanti, MI at 10:00AM. GPS coordinates: 42°14'45.364" N 83°36'30.1255" W Just like you go to a restaurant, it is common and appropriate to give your waitress/waiter a tip or gratuity, such is the case here. You are welcome to provide a gratuity to your model at the end of a successful shoot. Suggested tip is 10% of the course fee for a Portrait/Fashion workshop, 15% of the course fee for a Lingerie/Boudoir workshop and up to 20% for a Nude/Figure workshop or even more if your model performs well (and of course; they will!
