#732 The Business of Photography
Instructor(s): Bryce Denison
Tuition: $35.00
This three hour presentation will provide the students with some of the knowledge needed to start their own photography business or to run your current business more efficiently. Instruction includes: the differences between a Sole Proprietorship and a LLC (Limited Liability Corporation) business structure and which one is best for you. Learn about pricing and marketing your work, writing contracts to protect yourself from people who trample upon or outright steal your intellectual property or just disregard copyright laws. We will also spend some time on accounting practices and how to write off business expenses on your income tax filings. Learn when model releases are needed, plus how “sell up” and marketing your work to maximize profits. This lecture is appropriate for the new photographer or the veteran who needs to brush up on the latest laws and business practices and business models. Be aware that this is just a three-hour presentation. A more complete and thorough class is six weeks long offered soon at Midwest Photography Workshops. www.midwest.photography
