Modeling with MPW
Midwest Photography Workshops is pleased to invite you to our studio for a test shoot. Models are an important part of the educational experience we offer to our students. We specialize in small class sizes (usually 4-6 students to one instructor and one model). This insures that each student can receive a great deal of personal attention.
Midwest Photography Workshops prize models that can change their looks. Photographers prize a model that can look 16, 26 or 36 years old. We appreciate a model that can wear her hair up or down, with a hat or without. We need a model that can wear an evening gown, sports wear, business attire or a swimsuit. We prefer a model that can wear casual wear, lingerie, or jeans and a tank top. We prefer a model that can wear clothing from a miniskirt to nothing at all. Nudity is not required, but a model’s versatility can provide increased opportunities for assignments.
Midwest Photography Workshops hires three types of models for the classes we teach. The first type of model is for portraiture, fashion, swimsuit and bridal portraiture. We pay $100.00-$125.00 per day for this type of modeling. The second type of model we hire is the boudoir model. This model wears lingerie. We pay $125.00 – $150.00 per day for this type of modeling. The third type of model we hire is the nude/figure model. We pay $150:00-$195.00 for this type of modeling. Classes tend to be on weekends and run from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
As a model, you are responsible to bring your own wardrobe. We have some clothing and props to supplement your clothing. Chances are your own clothing will fit you better than ours. You are responsible for your own makeup and hair.
Midwest Photography Workshops is located at 28330 W. 8 Mile Rd. in Farmington Hills, MI. Look for a commercial building; a turn of the century 4 room schoolhouse. The marquee in front of the building is too small to really see the Midwest sign. Look for the 100 foot tall reddish brown square smokestack. We are located across the street from the Clarenceville Cemetery and next door to Auto Zone (Only since 1970). There is free parking on either side of the building. Come in the front door.
As a photographer, I value the opinion and suggestions from my models. I believe their input is equally as important as mine. Together, we create a synergism so the photographs become better than they could be with input from just one of us. Models are welcome to bring one chaperone to their test shoot (or not). Parents, sisters, girlfriends are preferred. Jealous boyfriends are not.
